Trophy Bull Elk
Elk are few and far between on the Navajo. Elk densities, located in scattered pockets in several popular hunt units vary, depending on the unit. Hunt bugling bull elk with archery tackle in September or with a rifle during the first couple weeks of October and also, late season rifle hunts in January. J's exclusively hunts the premium trophy permit units, although general unit hunts are available. The quality of bull elk harvested yearly is evident in the trophy units. Draw a permit and Let's Go Huntin!
In general unit areas, bulls harvested range from 300 to 350 inch gross score average. Bull quality in trophy permit units remains consistent every year. Expect to see bulls ranging from 330 to 375 inch gross score average. Bulls of much larger size score well over 380 inches B&C. The chance of harvesting a great bull is at the drop of your application, leave the rest to us. The Navajo is known for quality, not quantity. Good luck on the draw.
